Eating woes

Eureka! It suddenly dawned on me. I think I know how to get Declan to eat, especially when we are out. Parents will feed each other instead of feeding the child. This way, the child will think "whatever they are not giving me HAS to be good... I want that!".

Ok, well at least i know my child will be contrary enough to think this way...

The strong-willed child

So, DY and I have been doing some reading on the strong-willed child and I think it has done me some good. Somehow, it's made me much calmer that I will have to work in a very different way to enable my child to move nearer to my beat than his own. Somewhere along the line, I had lost a little focus on the kind of parent I wanted to be. Actually, to be honest, I still have no idea what kind of parent I want to be, but it is quite obvious that my child and I have been warring too much.

It is time to move on to another level. Seeing it in writing has made me realise that with my own pigheadedness, I am just encouraging the same pigheadedness from my child. It is time for me to work together instead of against each other and if I have to wake up 30min earlier every morning to achieve this, then it is what I must do.

Well, at least we reached school early today, which is what we haven't been doing for the past 2 weeks.

He's still crying when we leave school, but since he stops within 30 seconds, my head considers that a victory, no matter what my heart feels.
